If you want to discover the way of life was back during the 1890’s in America, you should visit the Fair Lawn Mansion in Superior. The estate was once in the ownership of Superior’s second Mayor Martin Pattison and had industrialist flair to it. The 42 room mansion had a Queen Anee Victorian-style architectural construction. It also has a similar make like that of the Harborview Parkway in Superior. Its prominent features are the four story turret, steeply gabled roof, front porch, and contrasting colors and textures on the exterior trimmings. When Mayor Pattison died, his wife donated the mansion to the Superior Children’s Home and Refuge Association which eventually became an orphanage. Then throughout the years, the Fair Lawn Mansion became a known landmark in Superior, even having additional renovations to better preserve the history and legacy it’s previous owners left behind.
