If you’re in the Green Bay area and would want to know more about the railroad’s history, then visit the National Railroad Museum. The museum’s infancy was during the late 1950’s when local groups dedicated to the history of American railroads decided to make a landmark of information and displays about railroads and trains. Now you’ll get to know more about railroading and steam engines during the past era. An interesting story that you’ll discover in the museum is about the Pullman Porters. They were born out of the group of men who worked at the rail lines that succeeded in forming the black union in 1937 and earned themselves the right to work in the railroads. There’s also a restored 1920s 10-1-2, Pullman sleeper car, the Lake Mitchell that is coupled with a computer generated interface. This shows interactive capabilities inside the car, some original artifacts, and a touch screen computer showing relevant materials such as oral histories and additional railroading facts.
